Escape from Ramsey Jail

Devils Lake, N.D., Jan 10.—While the sheriff's office was vacant for a short time, two prisoners, Williams and Johnson, made their escape.

They passed through the jail doors by means of wooden keys and climbed through the office window, tracks in the snow showing that one went south and one west. The deputy sheriff came in shortly afterward and was informed by the other prisoners of the proceedings. At once a large force under Sheriff McLean and Chief Barnes got to work and Williams was soon found. Nothing further has been heard of Johnson, except that he changed clothes in an old building near his former home.
