An Indian Suicides.

Fort Yates, D.T., Sept. 12—[Special]—an Indian in the guardhouse here for stealing horses and selling them at Mandan, committed suicide this morning by stabbing himself in the left breast with the knife he had to eat his breakfast with.

George Fisher, a Logan county farmer brooded over his financial difficulties until he lost his reason, and has been taken to the Jamestown asylum.

Arrested For Perjury

A sensation was caused in the court room Tuesday when Judge Goss ordered Alex Lester, a witness in the Hamilton trial, placed under arrest on the charge of perjury. Lester stated on the stand that he could not tell the difference between buttermilk and beer. He made several similar statements and the judge, after giving him every opportunity to correct himself ordered him under arrest.

Ross, the self-confessed slayer of Thomas Walsh at Willow City, attempted suicide in his prison at Minot last week, but the plan was unsuccessful. An attempt was made by relatives to pass eatables saturated with poison into the prison, along with his meals. The plan was tried, but its purpose discovered before any injurious effects.

Dora, the 1-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wellhausen of Medina, came near drowning while playing around the yard with the rest of the children. She crept away from where the others were and had fallen into a pail of water when discovered by her mother.

The 2 year old son of Hans Winess near Portland, was poisoned by eating stale canned salmon, and died.
