From A Boat

Wm. Fry, a brick burner and coal miner employed by the Kenmare Dry Coal and Brick Co. at Kenmare, was arrested charged with rape, his alleged victim being his eldest daughter, who is but fourteen years of age. Fry is the father of seven children, the youngest being a babe but eight months old.

His alleged victim is a bright miss, and she informed authorities that her father had abused her since she was ten or eleven years of age. She stated that she thought many times of running away from home, but realized that if she did so, the father would choose one of her younger sisters for his victim. Instead she told the neighbors and her story got to the officials, who swore out a warrant for his arrest.

Chas. Peterson, a young man twenty-five years of age, who has been living at the Fry home, was also placed under arrest charged with rape. The girl states that Peterson had also abused her. Peterson is a coal miner. Both men are in the county jail. Their hearing came up before Judge Goss in chambers Tuesday night.
