Car Crash

Fred Koontz, living a couple of miles southeast of town, had two horses killed and another badly hurt by being struck by the northbound train last Friday evening. Fred had turned his stock out in the morning, and the animals were only about a mile from home when killed. Appearances would indicate that they were at or near the crossing on the township line south of Fred's place, when the train, which was over two hours late, happened along. Then, instead of sidestepping and letting the train go by, they started in to beat it to Wolford by running ahead of the engine. They lasted about fifty yards. — Wolford Mirror
