Freaks of Nature

The editor found this in his typewriter the other morning when he came to the office:

"Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party-party-party. Now is the time for z z z, And the Lord said unto Moses—Now you have played—playedplayed played."

Strange how the typewriters talk in their sleep.

Worse yet when we got it back the linotype operator added this:—"Etaoin etaoin shrdlu shrdlu pi pi shrdlyetaoin pi and the old gray horse etaoinshrdlu."

Young Man Accused of Serious Crime

Hillsboro, N. D., Dec. 13—Oscar E. Johnson of Ervin township, Traill county, was arrested here Wednesday charged with criminal assault, on complaint of Sophia Peterson of Neilsville, N. D. {sp} It is alleged that Johnson who has always borne a good reputation here, and who has many friends, took the girl riding in his auto in Neilsville, and attempted to assault her.

A number of young men hearing her cries, came to her rescue. It is said that Johnson shot at the young men, but no one was injured.

Johnson was arrested by Sheriff Harry Wulff at Traill county and today was taken to Polk county by Sheriff Kelly of Crookston and lodged in jail. Friends of Johnson say he was intoxicated at the time of the attempted assault.

Two From Barnes.

Barnes county sent patients to the asylum this week, Nels J. Nelson, a single man and Anton Olson, married, from near Leal. He has been a patient before. Both men were dangerous and both expressed intentions of killing neighbors, from the fear of being hurt by someone.

Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hoff nad {sp} two children, who reside near Crown Butte, were returning home from a visit during a recent storm when they were compelled to stop in a vacated shack for shelter. Coal, wood and a stove were found but they had no matches with which to start a fire. One of the children died and the mother and other child are in a bad condition.

Mrs. Karl Schroeder and her child, aged three years were burned to death in a prairie fire north of Jamestown.

With the top of his head kicked off, and four teaspoonfuls of brains taken out with the crushed bone, Tommy Grotemeyer, a four-year-old New England boy, will recover. The lad was kicked by a horse.
